Kirtana promotes personal welfare; Sankirtana promotes welfare to the entire universe. "Samoohika Bhajana" is another name for this. Sankirtana is classified into four types. 1. Guna Sankirtana, 2. Leela Sankirtana, 3. Bhava Sankirtana, and 4. Nama Sankirtana.

Guna sankirtana is the Sankirtana that describes the virtues of God.

Leela Sankirtana is Sankirtana performed by playing and experiencing the Divine Play(Leela of God) through dance.

In the philosophy of God, Bhava Sankirtana means "to take in the philosophy of Bhakti and turn it into Sankirtana"

Nama Sankirtana is the practise of chanting all of God's names and forms.

The sweetness of the Lord's name tugs at the heart when it is chanted and sung. It is heart melting. It enchants the divine and delights the heart.
